Message this fuel under boost. It is going to make them tend to run leaner when the system is operating in open loop. Ethanol doesn't have the same quantity of oxidizable hydrocarbon as gasoline, plus, it contains oxygen in the molecule.

When they switched from 10% MTBE to 10% ethanol it wasn't that much of an issue since MTBE and ethanol are chemically very similar and have very similar BTU/vol. IF they keep going this direction though with adding more and more ethanol, the fuel itself will eventually begin to destroy older engines equipped with narrowband lambda sensors. Newer vehicles are using wideband sensors which allow for them to adjust fuel delivery across the entire range of engine loads.

Granted, most of us are tuning our vehicles and using widebands to monitor mixtures but that's not the case for everyone out there. Keep adding more ethanol to the fuel and the untuned cars will start running leaner and leaner.

Additionally, you are paying more and more for fuel that actually contains less and less energy/vol.
